There has been another attack on the convoy of the Borno state governor, reportedly killing several people including security men and civilians.
The attack took place while officials were on their way to Baga town where governor Babagana Zulum was to receive returning IDPs.
Reports say that a number of vehicles including police amoured personnel carriers may have been hijacked in the ambush by terrorists.
Today’s attack is the second this year as the governor’s convoy was attacked in July, raising concerns as to why there’s a threat to governor Zulum’s well being.
Recall that moments after the attack in July, governor Zulum confronted men of the army, showing his disappointment and disdain at their inability to wipe out the terrorists.
“You have been here for over one year now, there are 1,181 soldiers here; if you cannot take over Baga which is less than 5 km from your base, then we should forget about Baga. I will inform the Chief of Army Staff to redeploy the men to other places that they can be useful,” the governor said.
